Manipura

Manipura is the Sanskrit name for the third chakra center of the body. It is more commonly know as the Solar Plexus Chakra. This chakra resides between the navel and rib center of the abdomen. The color most commonly associated with this charka is yellow, like the sun.

The seed sound that resonates with this chakra is that of "Ram", with the vowel sound of "ah" as in the word 'father'. This chakra is associated with the planet Mars and the Sun. It is important to understand the inner state of being that takes place in this chakra. The Solar chakra is associated with identity and the Self, the individual state of being. The central issues of this chakra are of power and will. The right of the Solar or third chakra is the right to act.

Here are a few examples of unbalanced characteristics for the third chakra. When the Solar chakra is in excess you may experience the need to be overbearing or dominating, feel the need to control others, situations or outcomes, you may be aggressive or appear aggressive to others, you may feel everywhere and nowhere energetically or what is often called the "monkey mind" and you may feel the need to be constantly in motion or doing. And unfortunately, that seems to be the state of our world right now; the feeling of always needing to be stimulated in someway or another.

When one is deficient in this chakra they might experience feelings of or having weak will, poor self-esteem, you may be passive in nature, you may feel sluggish or lack motivation and may be fearful of life or experiences in general. The shadow of this chakra is shame. If you find yourself feeling shame then that's a good indication that some healing work around the Solar plexus is needed. This is likely are result of trauma that experience in life that led you to or made you feel shame.

Here are a few affirmations to get your started on your healing journey through the Solar plexus chakra!

  • I honor the power within me.

  • I accomplish tasks easily and effortlessly.

  • The fire within me burns through all blocks and fears.

  • I can do whatever I will to do.

I recommend ending all of your "I Am" statements, such as with affirmations, with the statement "with grace and ease." Our words are powerful intentions, whether you realize this or not and when doing healing work it is important to understand that this process is not and easy peasy one! You will uncover lots of things that will need to be moved through and processed in a balanced way and that can feel and be uncomfortable and painful at times. Grace and ease is the best way to do the work!
